The old saying is, “There is one thing that is for sure and that is change.” Well, in this world of technology, that is an understatement because things change all the time. The new big buzz on the street is Web 3.0 and a lot of people will miss out if they do not keep up with the changing times.

Web 3.0 – What is it?

Before we get into that, let us take a look at Web 2.0. If I say Facebook, Blogger, MySpace…oh, and do not forget YouTube, what would the average person think? Perhaps they would think the following:

Facebook – Where people share information and keep in touch.
Blogger – Interactive, leave comments.
MySpace – Find your favorite band plus others.
YouTube – Put a video on the web for the world to see.

However, a small portion of people see these sites as a way to:

Promote their products
Brand themselves
Train others
Build a business

So, Web 2.0 began when people started to change the way they used the web. Because of the content sharing social components and video sharing, the web started to shape up as collaborating platforms. Well, Web 3.0 will take this form of collaboration to a totally new level. If I say Twitter, UStream or iGoogle, the average person will not realize that we are now moving into the Web 3.0 platforms with more real time interactions.

Now live streaming video is starting to out pace static video, i.e. UStream. Because more intelligent information is being gathered and more emphasis is being directed towards the browsing habits, companies are starting to focus more on how they can market to the consumer using Web 3.0.

Web 3.0 allows the web to be more open and information is shared more now. You can also be more mobile with the web now, because if you have a cell phone with internet access, you can access information wherever you are. It is not going to get smaller, it is going to get larger and larger. So, take some time to learn about the new buzz word, Web 3.0.
